Biography
For the last half-dozen years I've worked as a freelance writer and communications consultant, based in Harwich Port, Massachusetts.
From 2005 to 2016 I served as head of communications for Accion, an international non-profit dedicated to microfinance and financial inclusion, where I was responsible for positioning, branding, media, events, publications, and executive and development communications. (The photo above was taken in Kerala, India, where I was interviewing microfinance clients for Accion. Photo courtesy of John Rae.)
Prior to Accion, I managed analyst and investor relations, media relations and international marketing communications for U.S. and European technology companies, spending nearly a dozen years living and working abroad. I've served as a senior vice president of a Boston-based public relations firm specializing in crisis communications, and worked for nearly 10 years as a journalist and magazine editor in both Boston and London. I'm proud to say I've won awards for my writing in both the U.S. and the U.K.
A native of Boston, I hold a B.A. in English literature from Drew University, Madison, N.J., and a Masters in international public policy from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.
